My dad turns…

March 15, 2008 § Leave a comment

Yes. It’s my dad’s birthday today. He, however, says that at his age you don’t celebrate birthdays. He’s cynical and dry with his humor and I love it. He’s the kind of man who, when you call him and ask how things are going, he’ll say,”Leila, la vejez no se cura” which translated awkwardly to: Old age has no cure. He has lived a wild life and now his body is asking him to slow down. That’s hard for a person of his temperament.

You must have noticed that my sister was born the day before my dad. She was, most likely, the best present ever!

And I heard from my mom today that my sister was not only celebrating her birthday but also Pi day (3.14). It’s all too perfect since she majored in pure math (no joke) and is now a high school math teacher.

¡Sapo verde, Papi!
